Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR
In order to support Adam's passion and desire, we took the opportunity to procure a race car from another very successful team. The plan was to work on the car, work on Adam's skills and progress from karts to cars over a period of time. Sadly Covid came along and plans changed, and we ended up with very little practice in the end with Adam going straight into cars.
Now we are actively racing the Saxo, the lap times are tumbling down and exciting times are ahead!
Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC)
From the age of 14, once you have passed your ARDS, then you're able to drive on track in a car which meets the requirements. The series race at all the main venues in the UK including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.
Adam enjoyed a few of the meetings at the under 17 car club, which worked well for increasing his skills and putting some structure to the learning. We bought a road version of the race car to make it as similar as possible so the skills gained worked for him. Unfortunately we weren't able to continue this as some of the methods didn't lend themselves well to children on the autistic spectrum; however we did find the club to be well organised and we enjoyed some good days out.
